IFC is a data format created to enable lossless project exchange between CAD systems. In practice, this often means only simple geometry data, which offers little advantage compared to IGES or STEP. TREPEDIA, however, transfers real profile and component data, similar to a parts list containing the exact position of all elements.
As a result, the projects appear in the receiving software exactly as if they had been created there, including all processing such as cuts or drill holes. Not every CAD system can correctly read all details, but it works particularly well with HiCAD from ISD.
